Proper Recycling - Homes and Businesses
Curbside recycling is provided for all single-family homes and small apartment houses on public roads in Wayne County.
Containers
- Mix together in a box or a clear plastic trash bag.
- Clean containers of food and liquid.
- Throw away tops from glass and plastic containers.
- Flatten metal cans, gallon plastic containers and half-gallon
paper containers.
- License plates should be cleaned of major
dirt and defaced or cut so no one else can use them.

- Mix together in a plastic grocery bag; office paper, envelopes, magazines
& catalogs, junk mail
- Telephone books are accepted mixed with the newspaper.
- Fold or flatten paper.
- Place loose or in a paper grocery bag
- Put shredded paper in a clear plastic trash bag or a plastic grocery bag. Set bag out with Blue Box.
- Take covers off hard cover books, if possible. For large quantities, call the
Authority for arrangements.
Flat paper products may be mixed together and placed in or under the Blue Box
